Health Haven (GymBuddy at the time) started as a somewhat simple idea – to help University athletes get access to digital programs from their coaches. That may make us sound like we started in the 80s, but believe it or not most teams a few years ago were using pen and paper…
As times changed (COVID), so too did we. The remote personal training market grew and grew, and we found ourselves pulled in the direction of the wider personal training market in the UK and beyond.
Helping those who needed and wanted support to find access to vetted, premium trainers at a price that worked for them, and then letting you all pay-as-you-go for the services you know and love, and achieve more than you asked for.
We did that, and it’s been a blast.
We’ve helped hundreds of you find access to the support you’ve asked for and been let down on time and time again from what has unfortunately become a highly variable and commoditised personal training market.
You don’t think about getting from A to B anymore, the options are vast. Why should you spend so much time and energy getting your wellbeing to the same place?
As we continued onwards, 2 things happened. Firstly, that those that really want, need and act consistently to achieve their wellbeing goals cannot be sought after through ads and social media campaigns. You all need to feel trust, quality and a true sense of belief that what you’re about to engage in will work.
Like any relationship, that trust is formed through time and consistent dedication in doing what we said we would – and is often more easily formed when a mutual source of trust is involved (friend, family member, colleague etc).
TL, DR – a lot of inbound members were not all as serious as you are.
Secondly, I have had to come to terms with a number of realities. Many of you may have already seen, but I was diagnosed with a rare disease – Multifocal Motor Neuropathy. As life’s direction took an uncontrollable turn, I decided to become a Sports Nutritionist and partner with functional health coaches and nutritionists within the US to offer support to others with the disease and similar.
In doing so, it’s become incredibly apparent that there’s a whole world of those underserved by primary care who need, value and deserve my help to move more, feel better and hopefully live longer, happier lives.
Where am I going with this…
Health Haven is now becoming a platform for those with rare diseases to accomplish the above.
Now, that doesn’t mean everyone reading this who doesn’t have a rare disease is exempt from our platform – in fact, we truly welcome you and are here to support you. But our focus has to turn to help those who I personally connect with and understand the most, who tend to the see the most value in the services we offer them and who will do whatever it takes to realise that value.
Our trainers and coaches aren’t going anywhere, and neither are we, so don’t ever hesitate to use us to take a giant leap towards your wellness goals – see this as an FYI as to how we take things going forward as our demographic changes, services advance and our mission becomes ever-more explicit.
On behalf of myself and the whole team, we truly do wish you nothing but good health going forward – it really is your biggest asset – and we are here to help defend it for you.
Don’t be shy, drop me a line in the app for a chat about what you’re looking for and we can get you into the right hands asap.
Best wishes and, as always, in health,
Edward
